New dance?

August 28, 2015

The angels gathered at Randy's for a post-FODAR pot-luck and to say so long to Pam as she heads back to Toronto.  She did some pretty cool moves with the bug zapper, kind of a mini-son et lumiere show with fruit flies....

And guess who I found wandering around the Farmers' Market this morning in full regalia:

George, our very own EMS guy!

In closing, I'd like to share this little factoid: Tim Wilson's DITTA promo has been viewed 226,472 times.  The latest hit was from a friend from Thailand who had gotten it from her friend in Mexico.  Never underestimate the power of the web!  Keep your dancing shoes ready...

August 23, 2015

We did it!  The final FODAR show had a widly enthusiastic audience and the numbers weren't too bad either.  Before the show we had a short class, watched Randy take off his wool pants and don shorts, then said good-bye to Andrea Nann and Mocean Dance. There were notes from Pam...

To which we listened attentively...

It was still hot and humid as we trooped across to the old Post Office to put on costumes and make-up.  Susan had to be sewn into her polyester unspeakably hot dress by Grace.  The men had their eyes done by Pamela.  Melissa got a make-up lesson too. Then we wait for AJ's 1 hour, 1/2 hour, 15 minute, and 5 minute calls before we marched back across to the theatre.  Grace, in her little black dress, gave the best and most coherent speech of the afternoon, thanking our sponsors and introducing the chief angel.  And then it was over, and we were bowing, saying good-bye to the foot-stomping Coleman-Lemieux, to Ben and his seemingly boneless arms and his mom, Christine Kroker.

Dance notes

August 21, 2015 Festival of Dance Annapolis Royal program 2

From puddles of sweat to our chief angel making a quick on-stage appearance during the anger dance to pick up a piece of Phil's bassoon, it was a night to remember!

And then there was beautiful Ben like quicksilver on stage and the foot-stompin' Coleman-Lemieux!  Can we try some of the walking bits??? Pleeeeeeese!

With a little help from his friends, Randy proves he can still do Higher

As you can see, we are paying close attention to Pam's notes after rehearsal....

Our fearless leaders...

Will we ever be able to cross our legs together?  Randy and Pam are working with us individually and as a group to tighten up our act.  Sometimes it feels like we're going backwards, not forward.  Our leaders, however, are pushing, pulling, encouraging, praising and generally making us feel good.

I think we are all anxious to get into the theatre and run DITTA with actual spacing and wings.

More practice makes more perfect?

Saturday, August 8 Granville Ferry Community Hall

We had a full class this afternoon, with Joan, Maggie-Rene, and Dylan,  thundering across the hall floor.   Here is the Vimeo link to the video:   DITTA 3 Class

Dancing shoes were in evidence...(ohhh the pain), timing issues were addressed, and Phil and Grace learned how to swim all over again.
