Randy + Ben = out of this world

July 27, 2015   Granville Ferry Community Hall

We got to see something very special today:  Randy rehearsing Ben in a new piece set to Inuit throat music.  Or maybe it was Randy suggesting lines of movement to Ben and then watching him knock your socks off!

Here's a short video... I shot way more and will upload to Vimeo and share the link.

A little poetry, a little DITTA

July 25  Anglican Church Hall

We may have been few in number but we were mighty in spirit!  First there was class, then there was a birthday to celebrate (Terry's), followed by poetry, piano, and some hilarious movement... the human domino effect!

Is Wayne actually napping?

HBtY, HBtY, HB, dear Teeeerrrrrry, HBtY!
Tim came with his camera on a tiny dolly, kind of a roller skate for camera, read a poem and then crawled around on the floor filming as we tried to remember DITTA.

Tim and dolly follow George

George and Pamela, slow and fast.

Randy played many roles:  Melissa, Adrian and Sally.  Didn't know who he was by the end of rehearsal!

These pink sneakers belonged to Randy's dad, then belonged to Sam, and have now come back to the Chief Angel.

Playing with Poetry & Pasta

July 20, 2015

Granville Ferry Community Hall.  After class, Randy has us reading poetry, playing the piano (Phil), and moving.   When Phil played 'A Bicycle Built for Two', we all burst into song! And we knew all the words!  There's hope!

Mmmmm.....Randy in thinking mode
Phil in piano mode

It seems we cannot get away from doing things with chairs!

George and Pamela move to lyrics by Leonard Cohen.

Back to class for DITTA 3

July 18, 2015

Saturday afternoon at the Granville Ferry Community Hall, the angels gather to go big and small to Neil Young, followed by circle massage and galloping across the floor to great guffaws of laughter.  It's good to be back!

July 17, 2015

Randy has been in Halifax all week, setting After Godot on Rhonda Baker, Olivia Aubrecht and Susanne Chui of Mocean Dance.  They gave a studio performance of the piece at Halifax Dance Friday afternoon:

20 some people, including several little kids and a babe in arms, sat entranced for the 30 minute piece, done in total silence....except for the cracking of the rope!  Tombstones, stool, and big black suitcase made by RG.
